At the top of Serra Gaúcha lies the city of Carlos Barbosa, with a population of only 26,000 this small town is the birthplace of one of the biggest futsal clubs in the world. Founded in 1976 when two of the most influential futsal teams in the region, Real and River joined together to form the famous club we know today, Carlos Barbosa de Futsal. The unique strip of Carlos Barbosa de Futsal combines the white from Real and the Black from River. To complete the tricolor the team chose the renowned orange from the Netherlands due to their total football style which is famously referred to as ‘clockwork orange’ from their 1974 World Cup performance.

Carlos Barbosa de Futsal play their home fixtures at the Centro Municipal de Eventos, which has a maximum capacity of 6,500. Passionate fans fill the stands to watch world-class futsal and cheer on their beloved club. This energy is elevated during derby fixtures vs. the likes of Associação Farroupilhense de Futsal which is a notable club within the municipality of Farrouphilha.

Since their first state title in 1996 Carlos Barbosa de Futsal has accumulated trophies on the regular winning at both the regional and international level. Since its inception Carlos Barbosa de Futsal has amassed a trophy cabinet of around 400 pieces, highlighting how consistently great the club has been. In addition to the titles, the club works with more than 450 young people and children in schools and grassroots establishments throughout Carlos Barbosa and the regions of Salvador do Sul and Garibaldi. The club seeing the positive reinforcement futsal can have on the younger generation and how sport can complement education and ultimately form good citizens.
